Okay, I’m writing a book.
Writing a book is a freaky process.
I’m a freelance writer, but most of what I write has to do with personal finance or parenting (two topics that are amazingly intertwined, as a matter of fact) but I had an itch to write a fiction novel. When National Novel Writing Month came along last November I figured my time had come. I signed up alongside a bunch of other writers to pen an entire novel within a month.
What is it now…April?
So writing a novel within a month didn’t quite work for me, but it gave me a great basis for a book and I’m halfway through writing the first draft. Sometimes the ideas come to me faster than I can type them, and other times I labor for days over which way the story should go. One thing remains constant, though: It’s a lot of fun. I don’t know if you’ll ever see my book in stores, but I’m determined to finish it up no matter how long it takes.
In the meantime, I plan on recording the whole roller coaster ride here. Feel free to leave me tips on how to actually finish my novel…or just enjoy reading about my frustrations when my characters just won’t do what I tell them to do.

Reading this put a big grin on my face because I’ve been there. No, I haven’t published anything, but I have researched a lot and know what it’s like to try to get the ‘voices’ out of your head. Keep it up- I look forward to reading it!
Do the posts you put on MySpace divulge any major plot points and if so how do your fans react to them?
I have done NaNoWriMo for several years now and have yet to finish anything! I will bookmark you to see how it goes. I plan on finishing a novel this year! Good luck!
