Switching Back and Forth

Published by Tamsen Butler at 3:10 pm under Other Musings Edit This

The other night I went from answering mortgage questionsto writing in my novel.  It’s a weird transition, and sometimes I have to make a conscious effort to switch from Tamsen Butler, Personal Finance Writer to Tamsen Butler, fiction writer.

You know, I really love doing both.  I’m kind of a geek when it comes to personal finance, but I get such a huge kick out of crafting a story from scratch that I would chose writing fiction over finance any day.  The trick, I guess, is to get paid for writing fiction like I get paid for writing personal finance stuff.

Maybe I should have made my main character a banker, and then I could have mingled the topics.

Will I keep writing about finance after my novel is widely received as a brilliant literary contribution (hey, dream big!)? Probably.  I get a kick out of it.  Would I like to make a career of writing fiction novels? You betcha.  Maybe I can just do both.  Now that would be cool.
