What are you waiting for?
When I decided to pursue a career as a writer I had a wee bit of apprehension. I didn’t have a degree in journalism (it’s in psychology) and the only thing I really had going for me was that I was willing to work my butt off to learn the craft and I had an almost absurd optimism that I could eventually make it as a writer.
I always approach new pursuits like this: Why not me? Someone has to be a writer. Writing is a viable profession. Why can’t I do it? Instead of disregarding the desire to become a writer by defeating myself before I ever started, I just started writing. Now here I am, a couple of years later, making a living from writing and trying to finish a novel. Go figure.
What are you talking yourself out of doing? Do you want to be a writer? An artist? Do you want to pursue your doctorate degree? Why not just start right now?
What are you waiting for?
