The Great Outdoors

Published by Tamsen Butler at 12:08 pm under The Logistics of Writing Edit This

The weather has warmed up quite a bit out here, so today when the kids were in school I took my laptop to a coffee shop and did some writing while sitting outside.  I don’t usually write outside because the weather here is usually really flipping cold or really flipping hot, but today was just about right so I gave it a shot.

I think I’m a fan of writing outside now.  I didn’t have to listen to the espresso machine at the coffee shop, but by the same token I wasn’t at home and therefore distracted by the piles of laundry that are perpetually piling up on the couch, beckoning me to fold them.  I think the whole outdoor writing deal was ideal.

Soon the weather will turn nasty and it will be too hot and muggy outside to do much other than run from one air conditioned building to another, but for now I think I’ll try to find as many opportunities as possible to do some writing outside before that happens.
